Hayes decided to earn extra money, of course he wanted to get a decent amount for easy and relaxed work, and the only way to earn his pocket, thus, is to transport the drug to another country. He is offered two kilograms of hashish to be transported to Turkey, and in order to implement his promising plan,6 as he thought, the guy glues his body with a Band-Aid, and puts small pieces of hashish under it. At the airport, he is stopped by the police, just on this day a total inspection was carried out, connected with the purpose of preventing terrorist attacks.

Right before the plane ramp, the man is detained, after long interrogations, he decides to cooperate with the police and reveals to them the name of the person who sold a large batch of drugs. Despite the strict laws for drug smuggling, the guy was lucky, his father hired a good lawyer and he was only sentenced to four years in an Istanbul prison. He waited with great patience for the day of his release, but just before his release, the Supreme court decides to review his case, and then increase the sentence to thirty years. This turn of events forces the main character to take the desperate step "midnight express".
