The Cold War of the world's major powers is in full swing. In order to get ahead of the enemy in the arms race, the military leadership of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics commissioned the best specialist to create a unique submarine with an almost silent engine that runs on atomic energy. The first tests and exercises are entrusted to the highly experienced Captain Marco Remius. Some time later, a seasoned submariner killed deputy political officer Ivan, passing off the murder as an accident.

The man set out to hijack a super-modern submarine to the territory of the United States of America, where he wants to ask for asylum. The ship is heading for the coast of the North American continent. The actions of the rebel commander are closely watched by the military and Central Intelligence Agency analyst Jack Ryan.
