Twenty-seven-year-old Brian Banks was a school star at one time, he managed to become an excellent and successful football player thanks to his incredible character. Many predicted him a successful career in the world of sports, but fate decided to do something different with him, having experienced him with too serious difficulties. Eleven years ago, he was charged with rape, all this was a false denunciation, the guy did not commit any harmful actions towards the victim, but Kennish decided to take revenge on him in this way.

The action of the film unfolds as after parole, the main character is released. He is very worried that he was treated so terribly, ruining not only his inner world, but also the brilliant future that he could have earned for himself. Now he has to wear a motion sensor on his leg, and do not approach schools, as if he is an outcast for others, although he did not commit any illegal actions. One day he decides to try to justify himself, and for this he uses the California Innocence Project. From that moment on, Banks begins to fight for the truth and tries with all his might to get rid of all the charges previously brought against him.
