Inspector York and his partner, Quentin Conners, were not particularly lucky on the day they started their service. It was a rainy night when they were detained, they had to cross the line of the law, York accidentally kills a girl who became a hostage of a criminal, who in turn is shot by Quentin. It was the death of the hostage that became widely covered in newspapers, reproaching the police for incompetent actions and too cruel actions. After such an unpleasant incident, the management had to temporarily suspend the police from their duties. A little time passes, an armed robbery takes place in one of the city banks, during which people were captured. The gang leader, Lorenz, along with four accomplices, are going to conduct a dialogue exclusively with Corners, so the suspended employee is instantly returned to the workplace.

Inspector Quentin is given a young employee, Shane Dekker, as a partner, whom Corners does not particularly perceive. While negotiations were underway, the bank's premises were exploding, despite a strong pogrom, the hostages were all alive, but the criminals themselves and one billion dollars disappeared without a trace, which was stolen using a program embedded in the computer banking system. Two inspectors are trying in every way to find a solution to this issue, they have to use several variants of events at once, but only one confuses the main character that this crime is connected with a shootout on the bridge when an innocent girl died. A complex and complicated case strongly unites employees, they begin to respect each other and help in everything that allows them to enter a new stage of the investigation.
